Hi, I am Eloisa Bonilla, PsyD., LMFT. I pride myself in the empathy I bring to my clients in order to emphasize the benefits of incorporating a strengths based approach. As a therapist, it is important to me that I empower my clients by supporting them in the development of insight and awareness as an avenue to make adaptable changes.
Now, about my modalities… In my many years of education, training, and experience, I have been exposed to many frameworks. I am trained in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). EMDR is intended to target trauma and negative cognitions. I am also trained in the Gottman Method, to aid couples in working through and rebuilding their relationship. In addition, I am well versed in Family Systems, Choice Theory, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
What makes me effective? My experience and knowledge of the various modalities allows for a more expansive approach to mental health. I am a believer that nature and nurture comprise who we are; hence, a larger lens is necessary. The identified client is only one piece to the puzzle. As a therapist, I empathize, educate, challenge, and empower. Self compassion is key, insight and awareness are the avenue, action is the goal, change is the outcome.
